These puffs come in a variety of flavors. The jalapeno cheddar flavor is perfect for those who love spicy foods. It has a great texture and is not too spicy. For my taste there was a perfect balance of flavors.
The ingredients are advertised as gluten free, non GMO and vegan. Those are 3 things that are very difficult to find in a snack food.
Like most snack foods this product is still quite high in sodium and fat. However, the proportion of saturated fat is low, indicating there are more of the "good" fats than comparable alternatives.
But what really sets this product apart is the high amount of protein. There are 3 servings in each 3 oz bag, and each serving offers 8 grams of protein (11% of the RDA) out of 28 total grams! The protein blend in the product is made of peas, lentils and the sacha inchi seed. I had never heard of sacha inchi before trying this product either.
This product has an addicting taste and a promising nutritional profile. I think a wide range of people are going to love it and it makes it easier to snack healthy.
-Chipotle BBQ (5 out of 5): Yes, these are delicious. They are kind of like cheetos (and will even leave your fingers discolored!) but they actually have a few useful ingredients.
Gluten Free Boston and Beyond:
“Finally a healthy puff snack! But the real question is, how do they taste? Delicious! I love the crunchiness...”
I’m a big fan of SuperEats Protein Puffs. I’m hooked, and so is my kid! SuperEats makes its Puffs without harmful additives and lots of healthy ingredients. They even have protein, which puts my mind at ease if my kid has decided that he hates all protein-rich foods. Toddlers! My son is a very spicy food-averse, so he prefers the Truffle and Rosemary Puffs. These are helping right now, while he is going through a very frustrating “not eating anything ever” phase."
"You know it's good when you bring a bag of Chipotle BBQ puffs to your gluten free mom & your brother ends up eating them all!"
Most chips are made with GMO ingredients, feature a range of chemical flavors, and are mostly empty calories. But we found a new snack that makes him happy and meets all of our needs for a healthy indulgence: SuperEats Puffs.
These flavorful and unique puffs come in a variety of delicious flavors (Jalapeno Cheddar, Chipotle BBQ, and Rosemary Truffle) and have a satisfying crunchy texture. The best thing about these SuperEats puffs is what’s NOT on the ingredient label: no dairy, no GMOs, no additives, no gluten, and no empty calories. The puffs are made just a few simple, wholesome ingredients:
Supereats protein blend (pea protein, sacha inchi protein), sunflower oil, lentil flour, sorghum flour, rice flour, seasoning.
This protein blend gives ensures that each serving contains about 8 grams of protein. Sure, eight might not seem like a ton, but for a little snack serving this is a big deal; this is especially important for those looking to boost their protein intake (although most Americans get too much protein!), and for picky toddlers in the ‘I don’t want to eat anything’ phase.
SuperEats also makes high-protein tortilla chips, and kale crisp crackers with even more protein per serving.
But what about those ingredients? Sacha inchi is a plant that grows in the highlands of Peru and has been cultivated there for thousands of years. While it’s technically a seed, but it’s larger size and roasty flavor makes it seem more like a nut. This seed contains a great balance of essential fatty acids: 3, 6 and 9. The fruit is inedible, but the nut has become increasingly popular over the past few years because of its unique flavor, great nutritional profile, and potential for true health benefits.
Pea protein is taken from peas (of course) and are an amazing vegan protein supplement. Pea protein is mild (if not neutral) in flavor, and has a really high protein content. In fact, split peas are one of the best sources of protein, like, ever. When I wrote about my homemade Split Pea Soup, I learned that just one cup of cooked split peas contains 16 grams of protein (along with 65% of your daily value of fiber). A big win.
You can see that these high-protein, high-fiber seeds and bean ingredients translate to a much healthier snack! If you’re going to snack, do so smartly and ensure you’re getting protein and fiber along with all that flavor. SuperEats makes it easy!
