SuperEats Team Picks from Expo West 2016
The SuperEats team just returned from the mecca of natural foods that is Expo West. If you're unfamiliar, Expo West is a three day conference in Anaheim, CA where natural product companies from all over the world get together to network, show off new products, and cut a rug with industry friends at one of the many after parties. The conference vibe reminded us a lot of a New Orleans Mardi Gras parade. Picture attractive people in brightly colored shirts dancing in the aisles and literally throwing mini packages of cookies, jerky, bars, yogurt, etc. into your tote bag. Between the hard work and endless snacking we somehow settled upon three of our favorite things that we just had to share.
Aaron's Pick: Five Star Foodies Artichoke Burgers
For centuries (well, maybe only a few decades) the world has struggled to create delicious vegan burgers. These artichoke burgers, also made with cashews, are far from the unappealing concept of "meat substitute." They redefine the burger as something that can be inherently made without animal protein. The savory taste and satisfying texture of these patties revolutionizes the "vegan" burger into something that pleases any omnivore. Well done Five Star Foodies on breaking down the barriers of the burger!

Charlie's Choice: Bobbysue's Nuts
There were quite a few nuts at Expo West. From Tiger Nuts to the nut who tried to eat a napkin at our booth, we were not extremely impressed with the selection. That is until Charlie came frolicking back to the booth with his chops full of Bobbysue's Nuts! This cashew, pecan, and almond snack mix is seasoned with a secret family recipe of herbs and spices. The nuts come in savory and sweet flavors like the drizzly It's Raining Chocolate and the briny Nuts Over Olives, but Charlie reported that Some Like it Hot was super spicy and super delicious. Bonus snack: Bobbysue's Nuts donates a portion of their proceeds to the SPCA of Westchester who helps homeless animals nationwide! If these nuts are good enough to be sold in Yankee Stadium, they're good enough to be SuperEats approved!

Lauren's Fave: Chloe's Soft Serve Fruit
After Pacman-style chomping my way through aisles of salty, nutty, and chewy snacks, Chloe's stood at the end of our row like a shrine to my favorite food: frozen yogurt. I could see the machines churning and I knew that something amazingly familiar was coming my way. Chloe's is a fruit based soft serve treat, much like sorbet in frozen yogurt form. However, it is completely dairy-free and totally amazing. Chloe's was my last stop on day 1 of the expo, and subsequently on day 2, and there may have been three or four stops on day 3, but who's counting? I especially loved the banana based dark chocolate flavor, which tasted like a seductively creamy and very grown up version of blended banana "nice" cream.
